Letter From HCC – Grantham Street Car Park

2 May 2018,

Dear Community Groups,

R.E GRANTHAM ST CAR PARK WEIGHT LIMIT
Hamilton City Council has introduced a 4000kg/4 tonne weight limit for the Grantham St car park, which may be used by some of your members, officials and supporters. A risk assessment carried out has revealed the possibility of heavier vehicles parked here breaking through the surface of the car park. Engineering advice recommends vehicles (or combinations of boat/trailer/towing vehicle) weighing more than 4000kg/4 tonnes are at greater risk.
If necessary and in the interests of safety, vehicles exceeding the limit may be towed from this car park. The weight limit is in force until further notice, while the Council arranges for detailed design work for the necessary remediation project.
Vehicles parked here are done so at the owner’s/driver’s risk, and the Council takes no responsibility for damage to any vehicles parked here. The nearest alternative public car park is on Knox St, in the central city. For further information, please call 07 838 6699.
