July 2015 Presidents Report

Our Clubs thoughts go out to Steven Richard’s Family and Friends. Stevey passed away on the 25th of June after battling Huntingtons. He was 41 years old, and has been a member of the Waikato Sport Fishing Club for over 10 years. He was a regular at our tournaments. He will be sadly Missed by those who knew him and fished with him.Stevey

June Club Night was another great night with Joe Dennehy schooling us up on knot tying. The challenge was braid to mono knot testing. Karen Blockley won the Okuma spinning reel boat set with a 11 / 16kg line / knot test. Well Done Karen. Thanks to Tony Brinkworth for running the Line tester , and to Joe Dennehy.

July’s Club night is Tuesday 21st, at 7-30pm. We have a team of 3 from the NZ Sport Fishing Council. Phil Appleyard – vice President. Dave Lockwood – incoming Executive officer. And Bob Gutsell – Waikato zone rep. They will fill us in on what the council does for us, and update us on future activities. Bring along any questions, it will be a interesting evening.

Weather has certainly put a damper on the months fishing with no catch cards being received for the month.
Therefore no catch card draw for June.

Our Club AGM will be held on Saturday the 22nd of August. Any outstanding trophies can be handed in at the July club night or contact Mark Olsen for drop off.  Also any outstanding catch cards need to be in on club night or they WILL NOT COUNT towards Trophies or awards.

We require a New Catch Card Officer, and a New Membership Officer. Both role require a reliable internet connection.  Anyone wanting to be on the committee, or tournament helpers please let Alistiar or Mark know.

Winter Challenge; 1st July to 20th October.  This is a length contest. 3 species  Snapper, Kingfish and Baracoutta. Photos must show length and be viewable. See newsletter or website for rules and conditions. You Must Be A Financial Club Member to enter.

Cheers,
Roger
