Presidents Report
Hello all
I hope the fishing is going well and you are managing to get out at this busy time of the year with Xmas just around the corner.
Shelly Beach Family Fishing comp report.
The Shelly Beach family fishing comp was held on the 3rd of November and despite the weather we had a pretty good turn out with 68 entrees and some nice fish weighed in. The heaviest snapper was caught by Jason Delany at 3.84Kgs and taking out the Shelly beach trophy.
We also presented for the first time the Ken Monk trophy which was hand Carved by Kens friend and Montage staff member Fred Hodge and this was presented to one of our juniors Cormack Bentley with a Snapper weighing at 3.390. This trophy will be presented to one of our Small Fry or Junior anglers each year at shelly Beach.
We would also like to say a special thank you to Kens family and the team at Montage kitchens for providing the trophy and allowing the fishing club to honour Ken at the Shelly beach family comp as Ken has been a long time supporter of the fishing club.
We would also like to say thank you to Mike from Fullon Fishing for sponsoring the Small fry and Junior prizes and also thanks to all the other sponsors for there support with prizes which help make the prize pool very impressive.

Fishing Reports
Raglan:
The best time of year to be fishing for big snapper out west is now! if you want some tips and techniques on how to catch the big one out west make sure you come along to our November club night and see how Graham Hubert does it!. Many great fish are being caught with alot of anglers entering that 20lb club, Good numbers of gurnard are around the shallower 20-30mtr mark, Kingfish at Gannet and the reefs are still fishing well, Jigging can be a bit hit or miss so its worth spending the time to catch livies.
Coromandel / Firth of Thames
Chasing workups is the current fashion trend out of Coro, fishing the edgeswith microjig and softplastics is producing a great bin of tasty snapper. King fish are also patrolling the edges so don’t be afraid to run a wider circle around the work up towing rapala’s or slow livebaits. The Mussel harvesting is in full swing so great time to get the young ones out for some exciting fishing in the mussel berley trail. Its hard to miss this time of year in the harvesting berley so keeps them interesting and keen for another trip on the water.

All welcome!!
This month we have the pleasure of hosting a very experienced Raglan local and WSFC Club Member – Graham Hubert.
Graham Hubert aka the Raglan Wharf Seagull from the good ship Barbara Drawn and Bubbles has fished inside and outside the Raglan bar for over 55 years. He was the area reporter for a National Fishing magazine for 15 years so he has plenty of experience to pass on and stories to share.
